Frequently Asked Questions
How do I request a concert?
Simply email concerts@texaswinds.org and our Program Manager will help you. Please bear in mind that we finalize our monthly schedules 2 months in advance, so put in your requests at least 3 months in advance. Our musicians are in high demand and their schedules fill up quickly, so we are rarely able to accommodate last minute requests!
Why do you call it Texas Winds?
When we started playing concerts in 1985, our first musical group consisted of instruments from the woodwind family. Since then our ensembles have expanded to include the full range of orchestral and popular instruments and voice.
What kind of music do you perform?
Texas Winds performs music that educates, enriches, and entertains our audiences. Our repertoire includes classical, country-western, Broadway pops, holiday music, spirituals, and other styles. All of our groups are small to facilitate close interaction with Texas Winds audiences.
Who are your audiences?
We bring live musical performances to those who otherwise may not be able to participate in the cultural life of the community. Texas Winds performs for persons confined by ill health, the economically disadvantaged, isolated older adults, and preschool children from low-income households.
How many musicians are involved?
The Texas Winds roster includes anywhere from 50-70 professional musicians at any given time.

Where can I find a Texas Winds concert?
We perform in nursing homes, retirement homes, hospitals, the VA North Texas Health Care System, senior centers, government assisted housing, adult day facilities, workplaces for the disabled, Head Start Centers, and other preschools throughout Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Denton Counties.
How many concerts do you play annually?
Texas Winds’ season begins July 1 and ends June 30 each year and now includes more than 1,400 concerts reaching thousands of persons in North Texas. Visit our Annual Report page to see our growth over the years.
How can I help?
Visit our Donation page for details about making a gift to Texas Winds.
We also encourage volunteers to attend nursing home and other senior facility concerts and participate as an audience member. Sit with people, visit with each other, and enjoy the music together.
If you would like to be even more involved, we are also looking for people to serve on our board of directors. Please email our board for more information.
